Tests are ordered by an independent licensed physician. This service does not replace care from your own doctor. Talk with a healthcare professional about your results.
This test looks for the genetic material of the bacteria that cause chlamydia and gonorrhea. Both infections are common and often cause no symptoms, so testing is the only way to know.
People order it after a new partner or possible exposure, as part of regular screening, or for peace of mind. Both infections are usually treated with antibiotics, and untreated infections can cause serious health problems.
Before your visit: no fasting. Do not urinate for about an hour before you give your sample. If you were exposed very recently, a test may not pick up the infection yet, so ask a clinician about timing. There is no blood draw, so no blood draw fee.
