This test looks for antibodies your body makes after exposure to the hepatitis C virus. If antibodies are found, the lab automatically runs a follow-up test to check whether the virus is still in your body.
Hepatitis C often causes no symptoms for years. The CDC recommends that all adults be screened at least once, and that people with ongoing risk be tested more often.
