The kidney (renal) function panel measures creatinine and BUN, which show how well your kidneys clear waste, along with electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride and carbon dioxide), calcium, phosphate, albumin and glucose. The lab also reports an estimated filtration rate (eGFR).
People order it to keep track of kidney health, especially with high blood pressure, diabetes, or medicines that can affect the kidneys.
